Gulfport Creative Short Story Writers: Every Wednesday at 10:00 am.

Bereavement Support Group: For family or friends who have recently lost a loved one. Open to the public Tuesdays, September 8 and September 15 at 10:00 am. Facilitated by The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast.

Foster Grandparent Program Information Session: For potential Foster Grandparent volunteers in the schools, Wednesday, September 9 at 2:00 pm. FMI, call 813-932-5228.

Socrates Cafe: These monthly discussion groups were inspired by the book The Six Questions of Socrates. Author Christopher Phillips traveled the world to lead informal groups, engaging people in the manner of the ancient Greek philosopher, for whom “the questions are more important than the answers.” Thursday, September 10 at 10:00 am.

Suncoast Computer Users: Thursday, September 10 at 6:00 pm.

Scrapbookers Club for Teens & Adults: NO MEETING IN SEPTEMBER—next meeting Saturday, October 10, 1:00 pm.

Summer Coffee/Talk: Summer series of monthly book discussions, “Grace Under Pressure,” continues with Franz Kafka’s The Trial. Join us for coffee, light refreshments, and lively conversation. Pick up a discussion guide and reserve a copy of the book at the Reference Help Desk. Thursday, September 17 (coffee’s ready at 10:00 am, talk starts at 10:15).

Attention Coffee/Talkers (and other books-into-movies fans)—We’ll be showing “The Trial,” a mesmerizing BBC film (2000) based on Kafka’s classic story, and starring Kyle MacLaclan (as “Josef K”), Anthony Hopkins, Jason Robards, and Alfred Molina. Thursday, September 17, starting at 1:30 pm. (Running time: 2 hours.)

The G & O Book Club: A philosophical discussion group based on the works of early 20th century mystic G. I. Gurdjieff and philosopher P. D. Ouspensky. Saturday, September 19, 1:30 pm.
